When the 89th Academy Award nominations were announced January 24, Deluxe was thrilled that among the nominees for Visual Effects was Jason Billington, our VFX Supervisor at Deluxe’s Iloura, recognized for his work on Deepwater Horizon. Iloura’s work on the feature focused on the creation of the massive engine explosion that ignites the fire on the oil rig (Deepwater Horizon). Billington led approximately 125 artists across Iloura’s Sydney and Melbourne studios, collaborating closely with ILM and VFX Supervisor Craig Hammack. He shares the nomination with Hammack, Jason Snell and Burt Dalton. We’re pleased to note that this is the second year in a row that a VFX Supervisor from Iloura has been nominated for the Visual Effects Academy Award.
We’re looking forward to cheering Jason on at the Awards on Sunday, February 26, and celebrating the work of our clients and teams worldwide on the year’s most highly lauded features.
