February 14, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts presented their 69th Annual BAFTA Awards. Deluxe worked on a bevy of projects at the awards, including every Best Film nominee. Deluxe’s Method Studios and Iloura were directly nominated in the Special Visual Effects Category.

Method Studio’s Greg Steele was nominated with Ant Man. Method played an integral role in the film, with Greg acting as VFX supervisor in the creation of different types of ants seen in the movie, including crazy ants, fire ants, bullet ants and carpenter ants, giving each a unique character. The 150 person Method team of artists across Los Angeles and London created realistic versions of each species as well as animating swarming behavior for scenes that called for up to 10,000 ants at a time. You can find more information about their work on Animation World Network.

Iloura’s VFX Supervisor Tom Wood was also nominated in the Special Visual Effects category with Mad Max: Fury Road. Iloura created the toxic storm sequence in the film, which recently earned a VES award, as well as the Citadel location and a host of other VFX features, completing over 1,600 visual effects shots in total. Mad Max: Fury Road was also nominated in the Best Sound category, with services provided by Deluxe’s StageOne Sound in Australia.

Congratulations to Method Studios and Iloura on their wonderful work and success!
