The Method Design team in New York created a set of graphics to be used as a promo toolkit for FX's new drama series Tyrant. Taking cues from Middle Eastern architecture, the designers created a colossal temple which emphasizes the themes of power and dominance seen throughout the show. The artists aimed to portray a sense of ambiguity and disorientation by means of warped perspectives and twisting animations.

Soundtracked by Cousin Marnie and styled by Cynthia Lawrence-John, the film opens with a very feminine Kirsi playfully taking self-portraits, but as the film takes a darker turn, shards of mirror reflect multiple personas.

Each of the themed designs shows visitors information about how we spend time in our kitchens. Working closely with Mother and IKEA’s kitchen designers, Rushes created a range of six kitchens that seamlessly transform into each other.

It was decided film was the only way to go. There was an amazing book, Rock Dreams that provided a lot of the inspiration for the look.”

Shot at the luxurious Café Royal Hotel, the short film sees the two protagonists come together through circumstance with the narrative recounted in the style of a silent movie with story and dialogue slates.

Rushes Senior Executive Producer Norra Abdul Rahim was very happy to be working with Jung von Matt and Mercedes again… “It’s a sweet number and it’s hard to say no when you’re a cat fan!” Various practical methods were used in order to help the cat move in the balletic motion that the script called for. In a few of the shots these required extensive reconstruction of the car (and cat!) in order to remove them from view. In addition to Flame we had Sarah and Noel on Nuke to help out with ground work.

These were influences rather than a template for the look.”
