Colorist Mitch Paulson of Deluxe’s EFILM had worked with writer/director Jeff Nichols and cinematographer Adam Stone on several projects, including Midnight Special and Mud. He was delighted to reteam with the duo on the real-life story of courage and compassion, Loving, about marriage equality trailblazers Richard and Mildred Loving, whose Loving v. Virginia case went to the Supreme Court in 1967 after the couple persevered for nearly a decade. To re-create Washington and Virginia from decades past, Paulson reports, "We looked at photos of the period and worked to make everything feel real." Paulson works in all genres but he highly appreciates the opportunity to work on historically significant dramas, such as Straight Outta Compton, Selma and now Loving. "It's a great feeling to be a part of movies with substance and a larger meaning."
