Teams Behind WBTV Hit Series “The Flash” and “Supergirl,” and Feature Thriller “Parallel” From Bron Studios Receive Nominations for Excellence in the British Columbia Film Industry
Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Leo Awards were founded by the Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Foundation of British Columbia to recognize excellence in local filmmaking. Over the years, Encore has worked on many projects that have been honored with Leo Award nominations and wins, and 2019 is no exception. This year, Encore’s work has been recognized with two nominations in the Dramatic Series Best VFX category, with the teams behind the “Supergirl” Thanksgiving-themed episode “Call to Action” and “The Flash” season four finale “We Are the Flash” receiving nods, as well as a Best Feature Film VFX nomination for supernatural thriller “Parallel.”
Led by double nominee (and multiple Leo Award winner) Encore VFX Supervisor Armen Kevorkian, the nominated “Supergirl” team also includes Mike Leeming, Brian Reiss, Kris Cabrera, and Gevork Babityan; the nominated “The Flash” team also includes Joshua Spivack, Marc Lougee, Shirak Agresta, and Andranik Taranyan. The “Parallel” VFX team includes Adele Jones-Venables, Bob Habros, Vladimir Sofronov, Barbara Jansen and Maxime Hacquin.
Additionally, Encore Vancouver continues to lead the region in post-production; with their creative team proudly completing post, dailies, or both for 25 nominated projects.
Leo Award winners will be presented over a series of three events on May 25, May 26 and June 1, 2019. Huge congrats to the Encore teams, and best of luck to all nominees. For the full list, please visit: https://secure.leoawards.com/2019/nominees/
